Cyber security

I’m fascinated by all aspects of cyber security, with recent articles covering how YouTube is taking down videos depicting chemical weapons attacks and the importance of diversity in filling the skills gap. I’m also particularly interested in the story behind state sponsored cyber-attacks including why they happen, who perpetrates them and the techniques used by countries such as Russia, China and Iran.

As well as covering cyber security, I also write about data protection. This could be anything from the increasing data misuse among big tech companies to the impact of EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) – as well as the growing fines issued by regulators.

I’ve written features, opinion pieces and news covering cyber security, for publications including Wired UK, Forbes, the Guardian and SC UK. I’ve also appeared on various radio programmes offering expert opinion about the impact of cyber-attacks on consumers, businesses and governments.

In addition to my journalism work, I’m available for whitepapers, blogs and thought leadership pieces for cyber security companies.

Telecoms

I’ve been writing about telecoms since 2006, when I was handed the beat while working as a reporter at Marketing Week. I loved the sector so much that I left to become a senior reporter on Mobile Magazine, where I was later promoted to deputy editor. During that time, I wrote about mobile operators, smartphones and the retail sector, breaking stories including the O2 and Vodafone network share deal.

After becoming freelance in 2012, I’ve continued to cover telecoms for a range of publications including The Times, Mobile Europe and Land Mobile. I still write about mobile operators, but I also cover general trends such as AI and of course, virtualisation of the networks and the associated issues and challenges.

I am also a telecoms analyst at Global Data, where I cover wholesale telecoms, writing regular reports and speaking with numerous carrier customers.
